Skin types

Skin types are generally divided into three main categories, each with its own specific needs:

Oily skin:

  • Characteristics: Shiny and prone to pimples and acne due to excessive oil production.
  • Care: To care for oily skin, following the following tips can help control oil and prevent skin problems:
    1. Regular cleaning:
      • Use gentle, oil-free cleansers to remove excess oil and dirt.
      • Washing your face twice a day (morning and night) is recommended.
    2. Toner use:
      • Toners containing astringents can help shrink pores and reduce oil.
    3. Oil-free moisturizers:
      • Even oily skin needs moisturizer. Use lightweight, oil-free products.
    4. Mattifying products:
      • Using mattifying products can help reduce shine.
    5. Regular exfoliation:
      • Gentle exfoliation once or twice a week helps remove dead cells and prevent clogged pores.
    6. Using face masks:
      • Clay or charcoal masks can help absorb excess oil and deeply cleanse the skin.
    7. Sun protection:
      • Use oil-free sunscreens to protect your skin from sun damage.

Dry skin:

  • Characteristics: Scaly, rough, and prone to dryness and cracking.
  • Care: Dry skin care requires special attention and maintenance to prevent dryness, cracking, and other problems caused by lack of moisture. Here are some helpful tips for dry skin care:
    1. Gentle cleansing:
      • Use non-soap, gentle cleansers that don’t dry out the skin.
      • Limit washing your face to once or twice a day.
    2. Using a moisturizer:
      • After washing, apply a rich, nourishing moisturizer immediately. Products containing ingredients like glycerin, hyaluronic acid, and natural ingredients like plant oils can be effective.
    3. Proper bathing or showering:
      • When showering or bathing, limit the time and use warm (not hot) water.
      • Avoid using harsh soaps and use gentle cleansers instead.
    4. Gentle exfoliation:
      • Exfoliating dry skin helps remove dead skin cells. Use gentle, natural exfoliants once or twice a week.
    5. Drink enough water:
      • Keeping your body hydrated helps your skin retain moisture. It is very important to drink enough water throughout the day.
    6. Weather protection:
      • In cold and dry seasons, use gloves and a scarf to protect your skin.
      • Use sunscreen with the right SPF, even on cloudy days.
    7. Using thick ointments and oils:
      • At night, use ointments or natural oils (such as olive oil, coconut oil, etc.) to provide additional moisture.
    8. Avoid products containing alcohol:
      • Avoid products that contain alcohol or irritants, as these can add to skin dryness and irritate it.

Combination skin:

  • Characteristics: A combination of oily areas (usually in the T-zone of the face) and dry areas.
  • Care: Combination skin is skin that has a mix of oily and dry areas; typically the forehead, nose, and chin (known as the T-zone) are oily, while other areas, such as the cheeks, are drier. To care for combination skin, the following tips can be effective:

      • Use gentle, soap-free cleansers that effectively remove oil and dirt without drying out the skin.
    2. Toner use:
      • Alcohol-free toners can help balance oil in the T-zone and soothe dry areas.
    3. Moisturizer:
      • Use light, non-greasy moisturizers or creams. This will help keep your skin hydrated without adding extra oil to it.
    4. Regular exfoliation:
      • Exfoliating once or twice a week helps remove dead skin cells and prevent clogged pores. Use gentle exfoliants.
    5. Using face masks:
      • You can use different face masks for different areas of your skin; for example, oil-absorbing masks for the T-zone and moisturizing masks for drier areas.
    6. Sunscreen products:
      • Always use sunscreen that is suitable for your skin type. Oil-free and non-comedogenic (non-pore-clogging) products are a good choice.
    7. Drink enough water:
      • Keeping your body hydrated by drinking enough water helps maintain moisture balance in your skin.
    8. Avoid heavy products:
      • Avoid heavy, greasy products that can further irritate oily areas of the skin.
    9. Identify and control triggering factors:
      • Factors like stress, seasons, and diet can affect the condition of your skin. Try to identify these factors and control them.
